           Alia Bhatt is an Indian actress of the new generation. She is the daughter of ace director Mahesh Bhatt & Soni Razdan and the half sister of actress & director Pooja Bhatt. Alia had started her acting career as a child artist in 'Sangharsh' in the year 1999. Later she debuted as a leading actress in Karan Johar's 'Student Of The Year' in 2012. Singing is another forte where Alia has tried her luck in couple of movies. 'Highway' can be termed as her most successful movie, earning her many accolades.

Alia Bhatt started off her career as a child actor when she played the kid version of Preity Zinta in the film Sangharsh. Her first leading role was in the Karan Johar film Student Of The Year, which also marked the debut of Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. The film was a joint production between Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan and was a huge success at the box office. But she wasn’t taken seriously as an actress as she had not much to work within the script.

She then went on to prove herself as an actress in the year 2014 with three big films. They were Imtiaz Ali’s Highway opposite Randeep Hooda, Abhishek Varman’s 2 States opposite Arjun Kapoor and Shashank Khaitan’s Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania opposite Varun Dhawan. All of these films received rave reviews and were big box office collectors, and Alia Bhatt was named the top actress of the year by Box Office India. Next, she appeared opposite Shahid Kapoor in the Vikas Bahl directorial Shaandar but she was criticized for her performance.

In 2016, she appeared in commercially and critically successful films like Udta Punjab and Kapoor & Sons, both of which were praised for all the acting performances. She reunited with Shahid for Udta Punjab and with Sidharth Malhotra for Kapoor & Sons. In the same year, she was the lead in the film Dear Zindagi by English Vinglish director Gauri Shinde. This film also featured Shahrukh Khan in an extended cameo and went on to become a blockbuster.

She continued her hit streak in the year 2017 with Badrinath Ki Dulhania opposite Varun Dhawan, winning her a nomination for Best Actress at the Filmfare. The next year saw her as the solo lead in the Meghna Gulzar film Raazi, based on the novel Calling Sehmat by Harinder Sikka. Her performance was praised by everyone and Raazi went on to become the first film with a female lead to enter the 100 Crore club. Alia has Gully Boy opposite Ranveer Singh, Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra along with Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan and Karan Johar’s Kalank which will also star Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit and others in her kitty.
