Kiara Advani was born as Alia Advani to businessman Jagdeep Advani and teacher Genevieve Jaffrey. In an interview, Kiara said that her father Jagdeep Advani allowed his kids to pursue a career in whatever field they were interested in after watching the movie, 3 idiots. Before pursuing her career in movies, Kiara Advani took a short course in acting at Anupam Kher's acting institute, Anupam Kher's Actor Prepares.

Kiara Advani stepped into the glamorous world of movies in 2014 with the movie Fugly opposite newcomer Mohit Marwah. The movie received mixed reviews but Kiara's performance gained positive reviews. The actress then starred in the biographical (sports) movie M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story opposite Sushant Singh Rajput. She played the role of Sakshi Singh Dhoni in the movie. Her simple and striking performance won many hearts. Kiara also appeared in Machine opposite Mustafa Burmawalla, a romantic action film directed by Abbas-Mustan. However, the movie was a huge disappointment at the box office.
